Inission Munkfors invests for the future!

Inission Munkfors is the origin of the Inission Group – this is where it all began and the unit has played a central role in shaping the culture and values that exist within the entire Inission Group. The Munkfors unit offers tailor made services within the entire EMS value chain from individual circuit boards to complete box build to a wide customer base in different segments. An intensive journey of change is now underway with new investments in both technology and expertise.

Highest investment rate ever
” By leading the development in the industry, we aim to become the best total supplier for our customers. The high investment rate is also in line with our strategy to achieve our high environmental goals of zero CO₂e emissions, “says Mattias Neumann, Managing Director Inission Munkfors.

New technology for optimal quality and capacity.
”All technical investments will help us to become more efficient and guarantee optimal quality for our customers. At the same time, we reduce our energy consumption and environmental impact. The technical investments run throughout the entire value chain and will strengthen Inission Munkfors as a leading manufacturing partner,” Mattias Neumann continues, listing some of the investments that are most recent:

  • New surface mount line that increases our capacity will be delivered in the first quarter of 2027.
  • New and unique preparation machine for bending and cutting axial components guarantees higher speed and better quality in a way never seen before.
  • New Versaflow selective solderer for higher capacity and optimal precision.
  • New X-ray counter with 99.99% accuracy.
  • Own nitrogen gas plant that makes us independent and more flexible, while providing environmental benefits with fewer truck transports.
  • Continuous modernization of premises for efficient flows, safe and pleasant working environments and new ESD floors for safe production and protection of components and equipment.

Leading expertise and a learning and change-oriented organization.
“The commitment of our 130 creative employees is one of our greatest strengths. Many employees have worked with us for a long time, and we have a unique and strong corporate culture with sound values and high standards. Our specialists possess leading knowledge, and we have developed a learning and change-oriented organization. Continuous improvement and training through, for example, Inission Academy, is part of everyday life and the desire to constantly improve our customers’ processes is part of our culture, says Mattias Neumann.

We have a history of strong and long-term customer relationships.
“As Mattias Neuman says, we have set very ambitious goals for our investments, and these are investments that are directly aimed at benefiting our customers. We have a history of strong and long-term customer relationships, and our goal is for the customer to experience us as their own manufacturing unit where long-termism, quality and efficiency is number one,” says Stefan Henriksson, Chief Key Account Manager at Inission Munkfors.

We invest in competence needed to solve the customer’s needs.
“We also invest in the competence and knowledge needed to solve the customer’s needs. One such example is the ongoing work on certification according to ISO 27001, the international standard for information security management systems (ISMS). By investing in both our competence and our technology, we ensure that we are an even stronger partner for our customers, today and in the future,” concludes Stefan Henriksson.

Inspirit – Lean the Inission way!

Inspirit is Inission’s own production system based on classic Lean principles but optimized and further developed for Inission’s operations and customer needs. Five principles and our corporate values guide the whole organisation in how to organize operations and to strengthen competitiveness. The principles are connected – from our understanding of what creates customer value to creating efficient flows that deliver added value.

A compass for daily and long-term work
“You could say that we have developed Lean one step further to create optimal added value and quality for all our customers. Every decision made, must be traceable to our principles. It is our compass both in our daily and in our long-term work,” says Mathias Larsson, EMS Business Area Manager and responsible for the continuous development of Inspirit.

What are the five principles?

1. Customer value:
Customer value is about understanding who our customers are and what needs they have. Based on this, we plan our work to deliver added value from their perspective.

2. Standardized work:
A condition for delivering excellent quality in an efficient way is to work in a standardized manner. When everyone in the group performs the same work steps equally every time, we create predictability and conditions to improve our common way of working.

3. Flow:
Flow is about how a product or matter is refined from the first to the last step in a work process. The aim is to do this as quickly as possible without risking quality or customer satisfaction.

4. Quality:
Our quality work is based on us doing the right thing from the start. By paying attention to quality deficiencies at an early stage, we can keep our costs down while saving time and protecting our customers from problems.

5. Learning organization:
In a learning organization, it is a natural part to not only produce but also to improve. The leaders in the organization develop outstanding employees and groups to be able to contribute to the improvement work.

How do you achieve this?
“Every individual within Inission plays an important role in our development journey. That is why all employees, across all functions and companies, receive training in Inspirit. The purpose is to continuously simplify and improve the way we work, while building a culture where everyone is involved and encouraged to contribute. Inspirit serves as a compass for the entire Inission Group, providing us with a common language and a shared way of working across all our units. It also strengthens collaboration between companies and makes it easier to transfer products and knowledge from one unit to another.” continues Mathias Larsson.

How do you follow up and evaluate?
“One of the most important parts of Inspirit is follow-up. Evaluations are conducted constantly according to a carefully thought-out schedule and according to templates where we score and comment on efforts. Every employee participates in the evaluations, and so-called Pulse meetings are held every day to coordinate reports, improvements, and activities. That´s the way we create continuous improvement for all our customers, every day, every week, throughout the year,” concludes Mathias Larsson.

Latest news about the component market

The component market continues to be difficult to predict regarding the global political situation and component availability. However, Inission’s expert team within supply chain can assist with both the analysis and the planning of purchases to navigate the developing situation with component availability, says Leif Svensson, Sourcing Manager at Inission EMS.

Still a generally high demand for components
“We still have a situation with a generally high demand for memory and storage components in particular. This is primarily driven by the intensive development and expansion within AI. The defence industry is also a significant driving factor, where components for military equipment are increasing the pressure on suppliers.”

Prices and lead times are increasing
“At the moment, we are seeing an increase in costs and lead times for, among other things, memories, PCBs, and even rare earth metals that are needed for the manufacture of several components. Here, increases in raw material cost and capacity are the main reasons for the development. In addition to this we are monitoring the geopolitical situation regarding tariffs, export control, and US – China trade war as this also impacts the current situation.”

Transport
“When it comes to transports, there is an increase in lead times and prices, both by sea and by air. However, there is no direct shortage of transport resources at present, it is just a matter of planning for longer lead times, which is crucial to ensure on-time deliveries. The situation will most likely change from day to day due to the conflict in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.”

Advice to our customers
“As always, Inission can help you to carefully review the need for components in both the short and long term. Inission constantly works very closely with all our suppliers and together we can help each other to achieve the most stable supply chain of components possible. Another important measure is to review the possibility of using alternative components already in the design phase. Here, our specialists, not least within Innovate, can assist with leading expertise for optimal component selection. Inission also continuously monitors the market and the external situation to be able to keep all our customers updated with the latest news on the component situation. So, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our specialists!”
